LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky rifle team brought home its first road win Saturday with a victory against Jacksonville State. The Cats topped the Gamecocks 6149-6122 in the duel meet.

Kentucky outscored Jacksonville State 4615-4602 in smallbore and 1534-1520 in air rifle.

UK senior Mary Elsass won both the air rifle and smallbore competitions with a 391 and an 1166, respectively. Kentucky freshman Garth LoBello posted a personal best 352 in air rifle action.

“Overall, I feel the team did a great job of staying focused and their performances are starting to get better,” Coach Harry Mullins said. “We have three weeks to improve on our weak points and increase our strengths to the point of winning the Walsch Invitational and the Alaska match.”

The Cats are back in action on November 20th, when they head to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Walsch Invitational.
