LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team suffered its fourth Southeastern Conference setback of the season after an 8-1 defeat to sixth-ranked Ole Miss on Wednesday.

The Wildcats (6-4, 2-4 SEC) won the No. 1 doubles match for their only point. UK’s 33rd-ranked team of Massoumeh Emami and Kelly Brown outlasted the eighth-ranked Agnes Muzamel and Courtenay Chapman, 9-8. The Wildcats took the Rebels to three sets in three singles matches. The fifth-ranked Muzamel outlasted UK’s Kelly Brown at No. 1 singles 6-7, 6-2, 6-3. The Lady Rebels’ Chapman came from a set down to defeat Emami 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 3 match, and Martina Crha beat UK’s Christy Sigurski 6-0, 5-6, 7-5 at No. 4.

With the victory, Ole Miss improves to 9-2 overall, 2-1 in the SEC. The Cats hit the road for their next two matches, facing LSU on March 14 and Tulane the next day.
