AMES, Iowa — Sophomore Kelli More won the balance beam competition (9.850) and junior Michelle Hladky won the uneven bars (9.875) as Iowa State topped Missouri 193.750-192.525 in a home dual meet Friday night.
Sophomore Kelly Cherwien took first on the vault with a score of 9.800, while senior Heidi Kirt, sophomore Sarah Stayberg and freshman Angie Umbaugh all tallied identical scores of 9.675 to tie for third place behind Missouri’s Alison Akers, who scored a 9.825 to take second place.
More took second place behind Hladky on the uneven bars by scoring a 9.825 and junior Sarah Hodgson tallied a career-high 9.800 to take third place for Iowa State.
Senior Kayo Merritt was right behind More on the balance beam by scoring a 9.825 to snare second place, while Umbaugh grabbed for Iowa State with a score of 9.775
Merritt and freshman Jessy Smith tied for top honors on the floor exercise by scoring identical 9.875’s, while senior Libby Bell took third place with a score of 9.825.
The Cyclones travel to Nebraska on Sunday to take on the Huskers. Competition begins at 4 p.m.
