LEXINGTON, Kty. – Before Kentucky and Miami lock horns in the Midwest Regional of the NCAASweet 16 in St. Louis, Mo., the teams will battle on the baseball diamondTuesday, March 16, at 3 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium in Lexington, Ky.
Tuesday’s matchup marks the 32nd meeting between the schools. UK leads theseries 20-11, beating the RedHawks, 6-5, in the last meeting in 1989. TheRedHawks come into tomorrow’s game with a 5-5 record.
Kentucky (4-10, 1-2 SEC) opened conference play last weekend against theVanderbilt Commodores. The Wildcats picked up their first SEC win Sunday,beating Vanderbilt, 4-1.
Junior Nathan Kent (0-3) will take the mound for Kentucky on Tuesday. Kentpitched a career-high ten innings and had 11 strikeouts but took the losslast Friday night against the Commodores. Juniors Breck Price and AaronMcGlone will attempt to extend their eight-game hitting streaks inTuesday’s game.
The Wildcats return to SEC action on Friday, March 19, as they travel toOxford, Miss., to face the Rebels of Ole Miss. Saturday’s game will bebroadcast on Fox Sports South, starting at 5 p.m. ET.
