BATON ROUGE, La. – The 20th-ranked University of Kentucky women’s tennisteam fell to eighth-ranked Ole Miss 5-0 on Friday in second-round action atthe 1999 Southeastern Conference Tennis Championships.

Ole Miss (19-4) dropped only one set in the five completed singles matchesand shut down any hopes of a UK (14-9) upset.

Despite the loss, UK coach Mark Guilbeau was upbeat, saying, “You have togive Ole Miss all the credit in the world. That (performance) wasunbelievable. They played really, really well. But I’m very proud of ourteam and the direction we are heading.”

UK will now wait to see where it will play in an NCAA Regional Tournament,May 8-9.
