LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 15th-ranked University of Kentucky men’s tennis team is preparing for two home matches vs. Indiana at 2 p.m. and Cincinnati at 7 p.m. at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center Thursday.
Kentucky (9-4, 1-1) clinched its first SEC victory of the season and the fourth straight win over Arkansas in Fayetteville on Tuesday. Arkansas (6-4, 0-4) won the doubles point and two of the first four singles matches, but dropped the final two singles match-ups to seal UK’s victory.
UK’s Cedric Kauffmann, ranked No. 14 in the country, defeated Arkansas’ Tim Crichton at the No. 1 spot 6-4, 6-4 while UK’s Carlos Drada, ranked No. 95, beat Arkansas’ Daniel Pahlsson 6-3, 7-6. Kentucky lost its matches at the No. 2 and No. 4 positions. The Wildcats completed the comeback with victories by junior Patrik Johansson and senior Dan Spaner.
The Hoosiers (4-0) played host to a double-header last Saturday when they blanked Murray State and Northern Illinois. Indiana is led by Gabriel Montilla and Derek Pope.
Cincinnati (6-7) has been on the road for its last two match where they fell to Louisville 0-7 and Bowling Green 1-6.
