LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team bouncedback from a two-match losing skid with a 7-2 win over Ohio State today at theHilary J. Boone Tennis Center in Lexington, Ky.
In singles competition, the Wildcats (3-2, 0-2 SEC) did not give up a single set in its five victories,with only top-seeded Kelly Brown dropping a match. No. 2-seeded Kathy Herring defeated OSU’sBriana Harris 6-3, 7-5, and No. 3 Massoumeh Emami won 6-3, 6-2, over Mandy Yeley. No. 5Caroline Kirk gave up only two games in her 6-2, 6-0 victory over Cara Whittingham.
UK’s No. 1 doubles team of Brown and Emami extended their season record to 4-1 with a victoryover OSU’s Kristy Dascoli and Kelly Brown 8-4. Christy Sigurski and Brooke Skeen, teaming up forthe first time this season at No. 2 doubles, overcame OSU’s Mandy Yeley and Carolina Nahuz 8-6.
