Kentucky guard Tiffany Wait was named to the 1999 GTE Academic All-DistrictIV second team, district coordinator Julie Ciezkowski announced today.The district team is comprised of student-athletes from Division I schoolsin Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated,student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry acumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members areselected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directorsof America (CoSIDA) within the district.

Wait, a 5-11 junior from Hot Springs, Ark., was named to the second teamafter posting a 3.45 grade point average in pharmacy. She has started inall 29 games for the Wildcats this season. Wait leads UK in scoring(14.1), three-point shooting percentage (43.8%) and free throw shootingpercentage (81.6%). She is completing her first year in UK’s School ofPharmacy.

The GTE Academic All-District Team is part of the GTE All-America program.First team selections will appear on the national ballot for the GTEAcademic All-America Women’s Basketball Team.
