LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will try to extend its winning streak when the Cats travel to Athens, Ga., on Friday to take on the Bulldogs.
UK (5-5-2, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) is coming off a 2-0 shutout victory over Evansville on Tuesday. All-SEC candidate Carrie Staber has a team-leading five goals on the season, while senior goalkeeper Carrie Kuhnell has a goals against average of 1.09 with four shutouts. Georgia (7-4-1, 2-2 SEC) was shut out against College of Charleston, 4-0, in its last outing. Senior forward Mandy Aiken leads the Bulldogs with four total goals, while senior forward Nikki Ornelaz has notched three.
“We’re coming together at a very important stretch of the year,” UK coach Warren Lipka said. “Every game remaining on the schedule is very important, and we have to take them one game at a time.”
