Young players flock to learn ‘Air Raid’ systems.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 1999 University of Kentucky “Air Raid” football camps drew record attendance as interest in UK football continues to grow.
Approximately 2,800 youngsters attended this year’s camps and passing tournaments from June 6-27, said Claude Bassett, UK’s Director of Football Operations. That number broke last year’s record of 1,872 campers, which in turn, had broken the 1997 camp record of 826 campers.
“Our coaching staff dedicates the month of June to helping young football players develop,” Coach Hal Mumme said. “We believe the growth of our camps is a result of the interest in Kentucky football and word-of-mouth as campers tell others about their experiences on our campus.”
