LEXINGTON, Kty. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will play host to theMarshall Thundering Herd on Thursday, Sept. 16, at the UK Soccer Complex.The match will begin at 7 p.m.

UK (2-2-1, 1-1 SEC), currently ranked as high a No. 6 in the Great LakesRegion, is coming off an impressive weekend on the road against twoSoutheastern Conference opponents, including the 1998 NCAA Champion FloridaGators.

The Cats fell to Florida 2-1 in Gainesville, Fla., despite playing thedefending champions toe-to-toe for two halves of soccer. UK took the earlylead on freshman Elizabeth Ramsey’s goal marking the first time all season the Gators had trailed their opponent. Two Florida goals late in thefirst half ended the Cats’ upset bid.

Last Sunday, UK came away with a 2-1 overtime victory against SouthCarolina in Columbia, S.C. Ramsey powered the Wildcats with two goals, hersecond coming in the 94th minute, to give UK its fifth straight win overthe Gamecocks. Her first goal came off an assist from Keri Boyce. Ramseyleads UK in goals this season with four.

Marshall (3-1-1, 0-0 Mid-American) comes to Lexington fresh off ascoreless tie against Youngstown State. The Herd’s only loss was a 2-0shutout against West Virginia on Sept. 8. The two goals MU allowed are theonly shots to get past the Herd goalkeepers this season. They own animpressive goals-against-average of 0.40.

However, MU is struggling to find offense this season. The Herd has onlyscored four goals in five games this season. Freshman midfielder LindseyJayjack owns two of MU’s goals and is second on the team with 10 shots taken.This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
