ATHENS, Ga. – The UK doubles tandem of sophomores Johan Grunditz and Gustav Pousette won its opening round match on Thursday, 8-5 over Florida State?s Mike Ingham and Chad Mooney, in competition at the Southern Collegiate Tennis Championships. The tournament is being held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus.

As two of the three Swedish players on the Wildcats? roster, Grunditz and Pousette will look to advance to the final eight of the Doubles A Division on Friday when they face Sandeep Yeni Reddy and Rodrigo Villarroel of Charleston Southern.

Both men were eliminated from the singles field in the second round on Thursday. After gaining a first round bye, Pousette fell in straight sets to Nick Brochu of Georgia State, 6-4, 6-4. Grunditz won his first round match, 6-1, 6-3 over the Citadel?s Ben Fortune, but then lost to Paul Podbury of Tennessee in the next round, 6-2, 6-3.
