The Lady Kat golf team improved to 11th place after two rounds ofcompetition in the 1999 Franklin Street Trust Tar Heel Invitational. Theteam shot a 310, the fifth best team total for the second round. DukeUniversity still holds the lead with a two-round total of 596. Defendingchampion Candy Hennemann of Duke also remained in first place, shooting a1-over-par 73. Also in first place is Danielle Downey of Auburn.

Freshman Rachel Lester moved into the top 20, finishing two rounds tiedfor 16th place. Lester shot a 3-over-par 75 in the second round. TowaOkiyama moved from 43rd place into 24th place after shooting an impressive2-over-par 74, a season best.

Other Lady Kat results include senior Jenny Dugan and freshman KellyAnders. Both of the golfers shot 9-over-par 81 in the second round. Theyare currently tied for 54th place. Sophomore Jenny Throgmorton shot a8-over-par 80 on day two, moving her into 66th place.

The final day of competition begins Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m., at theGovernors Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.
