LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s soccer coach Warren Lipka was named the 1999 Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year by the National Soccer CoachesAssociation of America on Monday.

Lipka guided the Cats to a 16-3-2 overall mark this year in leading UK toa second-place finish in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division andthe second-best overall record in the SEC. Lipka also was honored as the1999 SEC Coach of the Year.

The Cats made their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament in the program’seight-year history this season and were awarded a first-round bye by theselection committee.

“This is a tremendous award to receive, but the credit goes to our playersand my assistant coaches,” Lipka said. “Our success this season could nothave been possible without their hard work and constant determination.”
