LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky track & field team was the big winner at theWildcat Speed Meet on Friday, as the Cats picked up 10 wins in 28 events.
Kentucky’s Matt Kavanagh put on perhaps the Cats’ most impressiveperformance of the day, meeting the NCAA Track & Field ccprovisional cut in the weight throw with a heave of 65’2″.
Other UK winners on the men’s side included Andrew VanderWagen in themen’s high jump, Chris Daniel in the pole vault and Jude Hammond in the 200dash.
On the women’s side, first-place finishers were Janet Crawford in the highjump, Shevan Threats in the long jump, Semidele Adeagbo in the triple jump,Rebecca Wedel in the weight throw, Roshell Russell in the 400 dash and theCats’ relay squad in the 4×400.
The track Cats return to Nutter Field House January 14 & 15, when UK hoststhe Wildcat Track & Field Classic.
