The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team travels to Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday, Dec. 18 to face Purdue, the 1999 NCAA Champions in the Boilermaker BlockerBuster, a double-header featuring the women’s game at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Purdue men versus Ball State at 7 p.m. Saturday’s game marks the first collegiate game in the Indiana Pacers’ new Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Cats (5-2) look to keep their three-game win streak alive as they attempt to capture their first win over a ranked opponent this season. The 12th-ranked Boilermakers (7-1) also are riding on a three-game win streak after defeating North Texas last Saturday. UK and Purdue have never met.
“This game will be a battle, playing in front of a sold out arena against the defending national champions,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said. “Now that finals are over we can concentrate on basketball and we’re excited about playing them. Purdue does a lot of great things and have some very experienced players. We are looking at this game to make us a better basketball team and I know that if we play our game we can come out on top.”
UK returns home Dec. 28 to face Tennessee-Martin at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum.
