Senior defender is first in UK women’s soccer history to receive this honor.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 13, 2000) — Allison Peppers, a senior defender for the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team, was named first-team Academic All-America, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced yesterday.

Peppers is the first member of the UK women’s soccer team to be named an Academic All-American.

“We are really proud of Allison’s accomplishments on and off the field,” UK coach Warren Lipka said. “She works really hard in the classroom and is going to be successful in any career path she chooses.”

Peppers, a kinesiology major from West Chester, Ohio, was named second-team All-America by the NSCAA and was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection after starting all 21 games this season. During her four-year career, Peppers started 84 of 85 games and ranks second in school history in games started. This season, she took three shots and tallied four assists, finishing her career with three goals and 10 assists.

Peppers was named a first-team Great Lakes Region All-American by the NSCAA. She has been selected to participate in the 5th Annual Umbro Select All-Star Classic Feb. 4-6, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
