LEXINGTON, Kty. –
Allison Peppers, a senior defender for the University of Kentucky women’ssoccer team, was named first-team Academic All-America, the National SoccerCoaches Association of America announced yesterday.

Peppers is the first member of the UK women’s soccer team to be named anAcademic All-American.

“We are really proud of Allison’s accomplishments on and off the field,”UK coach Warren Lipka said. “She works really hard in the classroom and isgoing to be successful in any career path she chooses.”

Peppers, a kinesiology major from West Chester, Ohio, was namedsecond-team All-America by the NSCAA and was a first-team All-SoutheasternConference selection after starting all 21 games this season. During herfour-year career, Peppers started 84 of 85 games and ranks second in schoolhistory in games started. This season, she took three shots and talliedfour assists, finishing her career with three goals and 10 assists.

Peppers was named a first-team Great Lakes Region All-American by theNSCAA. She has been selected to participate in the 5th Annual Umbro SelectAll-Star Classic Feb. 4-6, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
