LEXINGTON, Kty. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics team will open its home schedule on Friday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum, when it takes on the No. 25 Auburn Tigers.

The GymKats (0-1, 0-1) are coming off of a 194.650-192.250 loss to SEC-rival LSU last weekend. Freshman Julia Gore won the all-around with a score of 37.475 and senior Krissy Hoeferlin finished second on vault with a 9.850 performance.

The Auburn meet, “Homecoming 2000” marks the first home meet of Coach Leah Little?s 25th season as coach of the GymKats. Celebrating this momentous occasion with Coach Little will be several former gymnasts, including three-time NCAA all-around champion and Honda Award winner, Jenny Hansen.

This meet also marks a homecoming for Auburn head coach Jeff Thompson. Thompson, a UK graduate, spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the GymKats, >from 1986-89. Thompson is in his first season as head coach of the Tigers.

Auburn (0-2, 0-0) is coming off of a 195.525-191.950 loss to No. 1 Alabama. Senior Sarah Wentworth finished second in the all-around with a score of 38.925.
