LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will playhost to South Carolina on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. in MemorialColiseum. Sunday’s game is Take A Kid To The Game Day. Admission iffree for children ages 18 and under with a paying adult.

The Wildcats (11-10, 3-6 Southeastern Conference) look to snap afive-game losing streak after falling to Arkansas last Sunday, 83-70.The Cats won both meetings with South Carolina last season, winning78-76 in Columbia, S.C., and 93-65 in Lexington. UK leads the overallseries 15-7 and is 8-2 against the Lady Gamecocks in Memorial Coliseum.The Cats have not lost to USC at home since 1996.

“We’ve made some adjustments in practice this week to help usmatch up with South Carolina’s size,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said.”They are a young basketball team and a very good basketball team. Theyare quick and they have a good inside game. It will be a battle.”

South Carolina, who lost its leading scorer Shaun Gortman (14.8points per game) last week to a season-ending knee injury, entersSunday’s game, 12-11 overall and 2-8 in the SEC. The Lady Gamecockswent head-to-head with No. 2 Georgia on Thursday, falling 84-61 inAthens. USC, down by only nine at the half, charted four players indouble figures including a game-high 17 points from Jocelyn Penn, offthe bench. Penn is USC’s second leading scorer behind Gortman, averaging12.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

In addition to free admission, all kids can take place ininteractive activities on the upper concourse in Memorial Coliseumstarting at 1 p.m. Various UK athletes will be available to signautographs and kids of all ages can have their picture made withScratch, the official mascot of UK women’s basketball. The first 1,000fans will receive free Kentucky Wildcat key chains. Admission is $5 foradults.
