LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 6) – The University of Kentucky baseball team saw its stock in the national polls rise on Monday for the third straight week after extending its season-opening win streak to 13 games with a home sweep of the Dayton Flyers this past weekend.

The Wildcats (13-0) have moved up in the Collegiate Baseball poll while making their first appearance in the Baseball America poll. UK is now No. 20 in Collegiate Baseball, up one spot from last week, and No. 24 in Baseball America. The Cats also were previously ranked 21st in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll but this week’s poll will not be released until Tuesday.

Joining South Carolina (15-0) as one of only two undefeated teams remaining in the Southeastern Conference, the Cats will be looking to set a school record with 14 consecutive victories on Tuesday when they play host to Miami (Ohio) at Cliff Hagan Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET with junior Brandon Webb (3-0, 1.86 ERA) set to take the hill for Kentucky against Miami right-hander Matt Allen (0-0, 3.00 ERA). The RedHawks (2-2) lost twice last weekend to UK’s SEC brethren Arkansas.

UK closes their five-game homestand against Yale (0-2) on Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET before opening the SEC schedule this weekend in Tuscaloosa against the Crimson Tide of Alabama (12-5).
