AUBURN, Ala. – The 25th-ranked men’s tennis team defeated the No. 30 Auburn Tigers Monday afternoon, 5-2. Sophomore Gustav Pousette kept his SEC win streak alive, beating Estevam Strecker at the No. 4 position and giving him a 3-0 SEC record. The Cats are now 8-6 (2-1 SEC).
The Tigers won the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. The No. 33 doubles team of Pousette and Johan Hesoun fell to Strecker and Stephen Huss, 8-5, at the No. 2 position. The Cats lone doubles victory came at the No. 3 position where Carlos Drada and Reven Stephens defeated Georges Matijasevic and Raitis Tukans, 8-1.
In singles action, the Cats won five of the six matches in straight sets. No. 24 Carlos Drada lost to No. 100 Stephen Huss in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Cats will continue SEC dual match play against No. 4 Florida in Gainesville on March 26.
