BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 26th-ranked University of Kentucky women’s tennisteam notched another non-conference win on Wednesday when they edged the44th-ranked Indiana Hoosiers 5-4.

UK held off the hungry Hoosiers who were looking for revenge after theywere blanked by the Cats 8-0 last season.

The Cats took three of six singles matches and two of three doublescontests to grab the win and up their record to 10-7. Carolina Mayorga,Lauren Rookledge and Amy Trefethen took singles victories on courts No. 1,No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.

“It is really tough for us to get more than three wins in singles. We havereally been struggling in that area,” said coach Mark Guilbeau. “It wasnice to see Carolina and Amy get wins tonight and Lauren has been verysolid. Everyone on this team has proven that they have the ability to win.If we can put this together I am confident we can see some good resultslater in the season.”

In doubles, UK got another win from the young pair of Rookledge and JillBuckley, who are now 7-2 since being inserted into the No. 3 doubles spoton March 3. The pair breezed by Indiana’s Amanda Field and Jennifer Hsia8-1 to clinch the victory for the Cats. UK’s No. 2 doubles team and thenations 43rd-ranked duo of Brooke Skeen and Leigh Bradwell added the otherdoubles victory when they defeated Jessica Levin and Becky Wallihan.

The Cats will be back in action on Saturday, April 1, when they travel toKnoxville, Tenn. to take on the Tennessee Volunteers.
