OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team traveled to Oxford, Miss. today to the campus of Ole Miss University for the Southeastern Conference championship.
The Cats (12-9) come into the tournament as an eight-seed and will face off against the ninth-seeded Mississippi State Bulldogs (9-10) on Thursday, April 20, at 3:30 p.m. CDT. The match will take place on the Ole Miss campus at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
UK’s last meeting with the Bulldogs on April 16, saw the Cats battle back from a 4-2 deficit and win all three doubles matches to defeat MSU 5-4.
“We are extremely excited to be at the SEC tournament,” coach Mark Guilbeau said. “It is the premier tournament in the country for women’s tennis. We are also excited to play Mississippi State again and are looking forward to having another great, competitive match.”
The winner of Thursday’s match will advance to go head-to-head with the top-seeded Georgia Bulldogs on Friday.
