PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Kentucky’s men’s distance medleyrelay team finished third in the college men’s section of the event at thePenn Relays Friday.
Consisting entirely of freshmen, the relay team crossed the finish line in9:48.01, a season best for UK in the event and less than two seconds behindfirst place. With senior Jeff Limpert resting for tomorrow’s 4×800-meterrelay, Patton Seagraves filled in and joined Hunter Spencer, Chad Johnsonand Thomas Morgan to cut more than 11 seconds off the season bestestablished at the Texas Relays. Morgan finished his leg of 1,600 meters ina personal best time of 4:06.10.
In the college women’s triple jump, junior Shevan Threats followed upThursday’s fourth-place long jump with a fifth-place finish. Her leap of40-07.00 was only 4.25 inches behind the four spot. Following Threats insixth was teammate junior Falana Greenwell, who jumped 40-02.75.
Threats then teamed with senior Roshell Russell, junior Michelle Williamsand sophomore Hazel Hanson-Monnie to claim third in their heat of thecollege women’s 4×200-meter relay. However, their time of 1:39.49, theeleventh fastest of the day, was just shy of qualifying for Saturday’s finals.
UK finishes competition Saturday when senior Matt Kavanagh takes the fieldat 11 a.m. for the hammer throw, and the men’s 4×800-meter relay team ofLimpert, Johnson, Morgan, and Thomas strive for another title to add totheir triumph at the Texas Relays.
