COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team is in 18th place after one round of the East Regional on Thursday, shooting a team total of 312. Freshman Rachel Lester leads the Lady Kats, shooting a 4-over-par 76 and tying for 33rd place with 11 other golfers.

Freshman Marie Allen shot a 5-over-par 77, tying her for 52nd place. Sophomore Towa Okiyama, freshman Kelly Anders and junior Jenny Throgmorton also contributed to the team score and are in 81st, 91st and 107th place respectively.

Purdue University leads the team standings with a team score of 295 after one round. Marcy Newton of North Carolina leads all individuals, shooting a 5-under-par 67 in the first round.

Action continues Friday morning with tee times beginning at 7:30 at the OSU Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio.
