Track travels to Georgia Tech for last-chance meet.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Members of the University of Kentucky track and field squads will get onelast opportunity to gain or improve qualifying marks for the NCAA OutdoorChampionships when they participate in the Georgia Tech-ReebokInvitational, May 19-20, in Atlanta.
Four Wildcats have already provisionally qualified for the NCAA meet whichwill be held May 31-June 3 at Duke University in Durham, N.C.: senior MattKavanagh (hammer throw), senior Jeff Limpert (800-meter run), junior FalanaGreenwell (triple jump) and junior Shevan Threats (long jump).
Kavanagh’s best throw of 218-03.00 ranks second in the SoutheasternConference and 9th in the nation this season. This past weekend, he tookthird place at the SEC Outdoor Championships. Limpert improved hisprovisional qualifying time in the 800 meters at the SEC Championshipswhere he ran a 1:48.39 in the preliminaries. His time, a new personal best,ranks him third in the conference and 13th in the nation.
Greenwell’s provisional mark came early in the season when she cleared42-00.75 at the Hurricane Classic in Miami. That mark is the eighth longestin the SEC this season and 28th in the nation. Threats saved her best forthe SEC meet where she cleared a personal-best 20-05.75 to take sixthplace. That mark ranks ninth on the conference top performers list and 28thnationally.
Other UK hopefuls include junior Beth Burkett (javelin), freshmen ThomasMorgan and Hunter Spencer (800 and 1,500 meters), freshman Simidele Adeagboand Threats (triple jump) and freshman Janet Crawford (high jump).
Competition gets underway at George C. Griffin Track on the campus ofGeorgia Tech University Friday, May 19, with the javelin throw at 6 p.m. Amajority of the events will be contested on Saturday.
