“In this conference every team is competitive andyou have to be ready to play,” UK CoachBernadette Mattox said. “Alabama is a very goodteam and they are well coached. They’ve brought innew personnel this season after returning only twostarters. Like us, they will be looking at this game togain some confidence heading into February.”

Kentucky returns all five starters from last year’ssquad that upset nationally-ranked Alabama inLexington. The win marked UK’s first win overBama in six years. The trip to Tuscaloosa might prove to be a bit tougher asKentucky hasn’t won in Coleman Coliseum in 10 years. The last time UKdefeated Bama on the road was Feb. 17, 1990.

“It’s always tough playing on the road,” Mattox said. “We have to stayfocused on our game and take care of the little things. The rest will fall intoplace.”

Kentucky is 1-1 on the road against SEC teams this season. The Catsdefeated Florida 72-58 on Jan. 10 and lost in overtime to Vanderbilt 60-55just three days later.
