Women improve to 3-1 with victories over S. Carolina, Arkansas.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (January 9, 1999) — The University of Kentucky men’s and women’sswimming teams had an outstanding day on Saturday, as the men defeatedSouth Carolina and the women downed South Carolina and Arkansas.

The Wildcat men bested the Gamecocks 154-146, as Shaun Zitani, MattHampton, Jarrod Rush and Aaron Workman combined to win the finalevent, the 200 free relay, to clinch the victory for Kentucky. Zitani andWorkman won individual races as well, posting wins in the 50 and 100freestyles, respectively. Macon White claimed two wins on the day, the 200and 500 freestyles, and Ben Fowler captured the 1000 free.

The Wildcat women toppled two foes on the day, besting South Carolina,84-54, and Arkansas, 92-45. Many Cats claimed wins in the match,including Rachel Komisarz in the 200 fly, Carolyn Rader in the 100 fly andAnnabel Kosten in the 50 free.

With the wins, the men improve to 1-2, while the women rise to 3-1.

The Cats return to the pool next Saturday, when they face Alabama at noonin the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the UK campus.
