Senior finishes in 25th-place in 100-meter freestyle.

INDIANAPOLIS (March 18, 2000) — Senior Annabel Kosten led the Cats on the final day of theNCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships with a 25th place finish in the100-meter freestyle with a time of 56.12.

UK’s 400 freestyle relay, comprised of Kosten, Melissa Olson, Carolyn Rader,and Kelley Miller, placed 20th in the event with a time of 3:53.14.

Diver Carrie Knoeber placed 21st on the platform event with a score of 367.00.

“I think the girls swam well overall at the meet,” UK coach Gary Conelly said.

“It is pretty hard to try and hold a taper after resting for SEC’s but theycompeted well and I am proud of their efforts. We are certainly going to missAnnabel next year because she was the anchor of our freestyle relays.”

This is the first year the NCAA Swimming Championships have used the shortcourse meters racing course as opposed to the 25-yard course.
