(Aug. 22, 2000) — The University of Kentucky mens soccer team will face the Raiders of Wright State in exhibition action on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex.
The Cats are coming off a 1-0 triumph over Dayton, Sunday, Aug. 20. In that contest, the Cats looked sharp defensively, holding the Flyers to only five shots as UK senior goalkeeper Brian OLeary notched the shutout with four saves. Junior Ilkka Jantti accounted for the lone Wildcat goal with less than eight minutes to play.
The Raiders will be taking the field for the first time in the preseason when they travel to Lexington. They are coming off a 6-12-1 season and seventh-place finish in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1999.
This will be the Cats second of three preseason exhibitions before heading to Louisville to face the Cardinals in the regular season opener on Friday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all exhibitions is free.
