The Jefferson County UK Alumni Association will hold a pep rally on the Belle of Louisville on Friday, Sept. 1. It will kick off the football season as well as give an opportunity for UK football fans to show their support for the Wildcats prior to the season opener against the University of Louisville at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium the next day.

The cruise is for fans of all ages and will feature appearances by the UK cheerleaders, POM squad and mascot. There also will be video highlights of last season. Local dance band
Nervous Melvin and the Mistakes
will provide musical entertainment.

Jim Denny, organizer of the event, previously organized the successful Big Blue Invasion pep rally at Waterfront Park two years ago before the first UK-U of L game at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

“When our football team is playing here in Louisville, we just can’t let that opportunity go by without having a pep rally to show our support,” Denny said.

In addition to a lot of music, cheers and “cheer,” the club also will have door prizes and a raffle for two sets of tickets to the big game.

The cruise will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. with boarding beginning at 6:30 p.m.
