(Aug. 30, 2000) — University of Kentucky women’s soccer sophomore Keri Boyce was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week, Soccer America announced on Aug. 30. Boyce’s two goals against Vanderbilt, including the game-winner, netted her this honor in addition to the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honor she received on Aug. 28.

“It is great to see someone recognized for her hard work and commitment so far this season,” UK coach Warren Lipka said.

Kentucky also moved up in the Soccer America rankings released on Aug. 29. Now ranked at 14th, the Wildcats moved up from the 16th ranking they saw in the preseason, as SEC foe Florida fell to a rank of 19. Kentucky is now the highest ranked SEC team due to the Gators’ fall. In Soccer Buzz polls, Kentucky kept the same ranking as in the preseason (15th), but became the highest-ranked SEC team in that poll as well, due to Florida falling to 23rd.

Kentucky will travel to Minneapolis Sept., 1-3, to take part in the University of Minnesota tournament. They will face Minnesota on Friday, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. EST at the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
