BRONX, N.Y. The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s cross country teams finished 15th and 13th, respectively, onSaturday, Sept. 30, at the 2000 Brother John “Paddy” Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park.
Freshman Caitlin Phillips led the way for the women’s contingent for the third consecutive meet as she crossed the line in 30thplace with a time of 21:48.2 for the 6,000-meter course. Not far behind was fellow freshman Amy Guard whose time of 22:20.8 wasgood for 51st.
For the men, sophomore Thomas Morgan ran the 8,000-meter course in 25:30.6 for 33rd place. Sophomore Hunter Spencer,only 6.7 seconds back, grabbed 41st place.
In the team standings, the No. 9 ranked Boston College women claimed first place with a score of 26, while No. 18 TexasA&M (94 pts) and No. 21 Brown (98 pts) rounded out the top-3. On the men’s side, No. 5 Iona took the top honors as No. 16William and Mary came in second.
