(Oct. 2, 2000) — The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team has broken into the top 10 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll for the first time in its history and is ranked 10th.
“It is great to be recognized but at the same time, we still have a long way to go to accomplish our goals,” UK coach Warren Lipka said.
The Wildcats were ranked 12th for two straight weeks before victories over Southeastern Conference teams Alabama and Auburn propelled them into the top-10.
This marks the 13th week that Kentucky has been ranked in the top 25 nationally. Kentucky remains as the highest ranked SEC team, an honor that the Cats have held onto for five straight weeks.
