Five Wildcats scored in double figures as the Cats lone returning starter from lastseason, LaTonya McDole, recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Hawthorne also added a game-high eight assists while Stoglin grabbed an impressive nine boards. Freshman forward Alvine Mendeng and freshmen guard Kristin Connolly both scored eight points apiece and forward freshman reserve Shambrica Jones recorded six points. UK Coach Bernadette Mattox, entering her sixth season, started four freshmen (Helm,Hawthorne, Stoglin and Mendeng) in the lineup and although young, Mattox felt her team looked impressive in the debut game.

We only made 13 turnovers, which I thoughwas good. We also played with a lot of defensive effort.”The Cats dominated the entire game taking a 50-23 lead at the half. They scored 29points off 28 forced turnovers and outrebounded the Finnish team 56-30. Overall, UKshot 51.1 percent from the floor, compared to Finlands 30.9 percent. The Cats shot62.5 percent from the free throw line.”Defensively, I thought we were very good,” McDole said. “We are young, but wecame out with our adrenaline flowing and the younger players were pumped up. Weare anxious to get the season going.”The last time a UK team scored 100 points was Dec. 7, 1990 against Bradley(103-75).

The Cats will be back in action for their final exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7p.m. versus Premier Sports in Memorial Coliseum. Admission is free.
