Track and field picks up 10 wins in 28 events.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 10, 1999) — The University of Kentuckytrack & field team was the big winner at theWildcat Speed Meet on Friday, as the Cats pickedup 10 wins in 28 events.
Kentucky’s Matt Kavanagh put on perhaps theCats’ most impressive performance of the day,meeting the NCAA Track & Field cc provisionalcut in the weight throw with a heave of 65’2″.
Other UK winners on the men’s side includedAndrew VanderWagen in the men’s high jump,Chris Daniel in the pole vault and Jude Hammond inthe 200 dash.
On the women’s side, first-place finishers wereJanet Crawford in the high jump, Shevan Threats inthe long jump, Semidele Adeagbo in the triple jump,Rebecca Wedel in the weight throw, RoshellRussell in the 400 dash and the Cats’ relay squad inthe 4×400.
The track Cats return to Nutter Field HouseJanuary 14 & 15, when UK hosts the WildcatTrack & Field Classic.
