Jaime SiegeleSeventeen Kentucky swimmers and divers were named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll the conference office announced.

Current team members on the Honor Roll include Sarah Carter, Debra Hinsley, Sarah Hoppe, Aaron Kirkpatrick, David Kuendig, Jaime Siegele, Carrie Knoeber, Carolyn Rader, Tracy Sullivan, David Tweedie and Aaron Workman. Former Wildcats on the list are Emily Buske, Jennifer Clifford, Taryn Kannegeisser, Kelley Miller, Brett Palmer and Jennifer Priester.

The nominations are based upon the 1999-2000 school year. To be eligible, student-athletes must have three things: sophomore or higher academic standing, a 3.0 GPA for the past year or cumulatively, and have 24 credit hours toward a degree.

Wildcats Take Part in Last Chance Meet

The University of Kentucky men’s swimming team will send nine athletes to the Indiana Open “last chance” meet Friday at the University of Indiana. The last chance meet will be the men’s final shot of making the automatic cut for the NCAA championships. The Indiana Open begins at 4:00 p.m. at Counsilman Pool in Bloomington. Other teams competing in the meet are Cincinnati and the University of Indianapolis.

Macon White is the only men’s swimmer to have already qualified for the NCAA championship meet with his time in the 200 freestyle. Six other Wildcats and four relay teams have provisionally qualified for the meet. Divers Clayton Moss and Aaron Kirkpatrick have both qualified as well for the NCAA meet, both in the one-meter and three-meter. Moss has also qualified in the platform.
