Behind five strong innings from freshman Cory Hahn, the University of Kentucky baseball team climbed above the .500-mark for theseason, defeating visiting Tennessee-Martin, 11-3, Tuesday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Hahn scattered six hits over five innings, giving up only one run and picking up his second win of the season.
UK (9-8, 2-1 SEC) pounded out a season-high 16 hits en route to picking up its seventh win in the last eight games. Vince Harrison,Spencer Preston and Jon Love led the Wildcat attack with three hits apiece. Seth Morris, Brad Pickrell and Spencer Greater alsorecorded multi-hit games.
The Cats scored two runs in the first inning, both coming with two outs. Morris doubled and was later driven home by Preston. AfterGordon Tyler singled, Love came through with an RBI double of his own.
After the Wildcats added a run in the second, UTM (2-14) finally got on the board in the fourth on a solo home run by DanStephens.
UKs big inning came in the fifth, scoring five runs on only three hits, but being aided by a Skyhawk error that led to two unearnedruns.
Jonathon Spiceland (1-1) absorbed the loss for the Skyhawks. Spiceland was shelled for nine hits and five runs in only three inningsof work.
Mark Galvin and Shane Boyd each pitched two solid innings of relief for UK, as the Cats remained unbeaten in four home conteststhis season.
Kentucky and Tennessee-Martin will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. Rob Corrado (3-0) is scheduled to start for theWildcats. Corrado will be opposed by Justin Entrekin (1-2).
