The University of Kentucky men’s golf team is in 18th place following two rounds of competition in the opening day of the ElDiablo Intercollegiate on Saturday, March 17. The University of Toledo leads the tournament, being played at the El Diablo Golf andCountry Club in Citrus Springs, Fla.
The Cats are tied in 18th with Notre Dame after shooting a combined two-round score of 605. Senior Wes Furnish leads UK with athree-over-par 147 and is tied for 21st place among the 118 individuals competing.
Toledo shot a three-over-par 579 in the first two rounds to take first place. Rhode Island is close behind in second with a score of583. Rice’s Scott Phillips leads all individuals with a two-round total of two-under-par 140.
Action wraps up tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
