The University of Kentucky volleyball team opened up its spring season on Saturday, March 24th, at the University of Dayton byparticipating in a round-robin tournament with Dayton, Pittsburgh, Xavier and Bowling Green State University.
Playing under the newscoring format adopted by the NCAA, which will be used in the fall of 2001 season, the Cats came away from their first competitiveexperience with a strong overall performance. The new scoring format that has been adopted by the NCAA is as follows: 30-pointrally score for all games, except for the fifth game which will be a 15-point rally score. The let serve was also used for the first time,which will no longer ends play as a side out for the opponent. The play continues until the rally ends.

UK will travel to Indiana University on Saturday, March 31st to participate in a six-team round-robin tournament. The competitionbegins at 9 a.m. The Cats will play at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. The competition site is the Indiana UniversitySchool Gymnasium.
