Women's Golf

The University of Kentucky women’s golf team finishedtied for 10th place after shooting a score of 310 inSunday’s final round of the Bryan National Collegiategolf tournament on the Bryan Park Champions GolfCourse in Greensboro, N.C. The Kats finished thetournament with a 922 three-day tally.

Junior Towa Okiyama was the top finisher for UK at28th place. She shot a 77 in the final round to bringher tournament total to 226. Sophomore Kelly Anderswas close behind at 33rd after shooting a 79 inSunday’s action to bring her total to 227. SeniorJenny Throgmorton shot a 77 on Sunday to finish in58th with a 235 total, while sophomore Rachel Lester’sfinal round score of 79 brought her total to 236 for a60th-place finish. Rounding out the UK lineup wasjunior Kristen Pepe, whose 239 total placed her in76th place among all individuals.

Duke continued its hot play on Sunday, shooting a 279in the final round to finish first in the tournamentwith an eight-under-par 856 total. Candy Hannemann ofDuke finished first among all individuals with a finaltally of seven-under-par 209.

The Lady Kats enjoy a two-week break before travelingto Gainesville, Fla., April 20-22, for the 2001Southeastern Conference Championships at theUniversity of Florida Golf Course.
