(Apr. 9, 2001) — The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team downed Vanderbilt, 1-0, in a spring exhibition game on Saturday, April 7, at the UK Soccer Complex.
Kara McCue scored the winning goal off a Keri Boyce assist. The Wildcats dominated play throughout the game and created numerous scoring chance, but were unable to capitalize. Vanderbilt’s goalkeeper, Stacee Sproul, made some breakaway saves to deny UK any additional goals. In addition to fighting the Commodores, Kentucky had to fight the wind, which gusted at 15-20 miles per hour. The Cats are on a four-game win streak.
The Wildcats will next face Miami (Ohio) on Saturday, April 21, at the UK Soccer Complex at 6 p.m. This will be the final spring game for Kentucky.
