University of Kentucky men’s tennis junior Gustav Pousette has been voted to the Verizon Academic First Team All-District IV, it was announced Tuesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America advisory committee.Pousette, a foreign language and international economics double major, has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during his three years at UK. As the Cats No. 5 singles player, Pousette helped lead his team to the NCAA Team Championships, where they advanced to the round of 32 before falling to fourth-ranked South Alabama. The Kolmarden, Sweden, native has been named to the Dean’s List every semester in his college career and to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll in his sophomore and junior seasons.

To be nominated for the honor, an athlete must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of members of the CoSIDA within the district. The District IV team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

The Verizon Academic All-District Team is part of the Verizon Academic All-America program. First team selections will appear on the national ballot for the Verizon Academic All-America Men’s Spring At-Large team.
