Big Blue Preview: No. 20/19 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Plays Host to Purdue Fort Wayne
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 20/19 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to Purdue Fort Wayne on Monday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. ET in Historic Memorial Coliseum. It will be UK’s last home game until Dec. 9.
The Wildcats will celebrate Thanksgiving at the nonconference matchup. Fans are encouraged to bring a canned food to donate to God’s Pantry.

Darren Headrick will have the radio call for UK Sports Network in 2024-25, his eighth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 98.5 FM ICONS (Lexington), 1080 AM WKJK (Louisville) and SiriusXM 106 or 190.

Kentucky is coming off its first ranked win of the season after taking down in-state rival No. 18/18 Louisville, 71-61, in overtime on Saturday in Historic Memorial Coliseum. The game, which was in front of a sellout crowd, marked UK’s largest margin of victory in 32 overtime wins in program history.
For the first time this season, UK won from behind. UK trailed UofL by three points at halftime and by as many as seven points in both the first half and the second half. However, UK outscored UofL by 17 points in the final 16 minutes of the game (32-15). UK also held UofL without a field goal in overtime and outscored UofL, 13-3, in overtime.
Georgia Amoore, graduate student point guard, led UK in scoring with 19 points and a trio of 3-pointers. She also led the team with nine assists and two steals. The All-American leads the conference and is second in the nation in assists on 34 total.
The Wildcats have had a different leading scorer in all four games this season. The Cats also have had at least four double-digit scorers in all four games in 2024-25.
Amelia Hassett took the lead on the boards for the second time this season on 13 rebounds. She also went 5-of-6 from the line in the final three minutes of regulation and the final two minutes of overtime.
Kentucky remains the nation’s leader in blocks per game with 11.8, while it has swatted at nine or more in all four games this season. In fact, UK ranks in the nation’s top 20 in six categories total currently, featuring assists per game (21.3) and rebounds per game (47.0).
Kentucky leads Purdue Fort Wayne in the all-time meetings, 1-0. The lone meeting in the series was on Nov. 21, 2003, the first game of the Mickie DeMoss era, when Kentucky defeated Purdue Fort Wayne, 79-59, inside Memorial Coliseum.
