LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky volleyball team will play host to the Kentucky Conference Challenge this weekend, Sept. 14-15, with an abridged schedule due to the national tragedy this week.
San Jose State, which was originally scheduled to compete in the tournament, declined to make the trip to Kentucky. Miami (Ohio) replaces SJSU in the tournament. Virginia also was scheduled to compete, but due to an Atlantic Coast Conference decision banning play through Saturday, the Cavaliers were forced to cancel.
With the new lineup, Kentucky and Miami will face off at 7 p.m. on Friday, while Middle Tennessee State will take on the Redhawks at noon on Saturday. The Cats will close out play in the tournament at 5 p.m. against MTSU.
Admission to all of UK’s weekend events is free, however donations will be taken at the gates for the American Red Cross.
UK also has rescheduled its volleyball match with Louisville, which was originally set to be played on Tuesday. The Cats and Cards will now face off on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in Louisville.
