CINCINNATI – The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team dropped its second-consecutive heartbreaker with a 1-0 decision at Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 30.

In a defensive struggle, the Bearcats (2-4-2) found an opening in the 84th minute as John Liersemann took a feed from Sean Connor for the game-winner.

One of the Wildcats’ (4-4-1) best chances came in the 66th minute as they made crisp, sharp passes to send the ball down the field and past the UC defense. Ilkka Jantti took a shot from about 20 yards out that was tipped over the crossbar by Cincy goalkeeper Sacha Nathu.

On the day, UK was outshot 9-4, while the Bearcats also held an 8-5 corner-kick advantage.

UK returns to action on Friday, Oct. 5 when they return to Ohio to face the Bowling Green Falcons. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
