– Jesse Witten, a freshman on the University of Kentucky men’s tennis team, dropped his match in the quaterfinals of the All-American Championships on Saturday, Oct. 13. Witten battled with Amer Delic of Illinois in two tough sets before dropping 6-1, 6-1.
Witten gave an impressive performance during his action in the championships with dominating victories over Andy Leber of Texas-Arlington in third round action, Wisconsin’s Danny Westerman in the first round and Balazs Veress of California in second round play.
“To have a freshman advance this far is a compliment to our program,” Coach Dennis Emery said. “I am proud of his accomplishments and hope to see more of the same from him throughout the season.”
Witten and the Wildcats will see action in the University of Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 18-21.
