The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team takes a break from Mid-American Conference play to welcome Georgetown College to the UK Soccer Complex on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

“Georgetown is going to come in here to win,” Coach Ian Collins said. “We are a little banged after a physical game with Buffalo on Sunday, and this will be a tough match. We will come out and play hard to win.”

UK (7-4-1) is on a three-game win streak, its longest of the season, after dropping MAC-rival Buffalo, 3-1, on Sunday. MAC Player of the Week John Monebrake led the Wildcat attack with two goals, his third multi-goal game of the season, to raise his team-leading total to seven. Ilkka Jantti continues to lead a tough defensive corps and contributed a goal of his own against the Bulls. Greg Raber has been solid in goal for Kentucky, going 3-0-0 with a 0.67 goals-against average since entering the lineup on Oct. 5.

Georgetown (4-9-0) has dropped four of its last five contests with its last win coming in a 2-1 triumph over Kentucky Wesleyan. GC is led in scoring by Fonyam Atanga (six goals) and Brandon Murphy (five goals). The Tigers are averaging 2.16 goals a game but also are surrendering 2.25 gpg.

The Tigers and Wildcats have met three times with UK holding the 3-0-0 advantage. They last played in 1995, a 3-1 Kentucky victory. In the three matches, Georgetown has been outscored, 10-1.
