Defensive end Dennis Johnson, cornerback Leonard Burress, cornerback Jeremy Bowie, and free safety Anthony Wajda rank among the Southeastern Conference defensive statistic leaders released Tuesday by the league office.
Johnson has five quarterback sacks this season, ranking second in the SEC behind Alex Brown of Florida, who has 6.5 sacks. Johnson has 9.5 tackles for loss, good for third in the league behind Rashad Faison of South Carolina and David Jacobs of Georgia, who have 10 TFL each. Johnson also is third in fumbles caused with three, as Jermaine Phillips of Georgia and Chuck Losey of Vanderbilt have each caused four fumbles.
Burress and Bowie rank sixth in the league in pass breakups with seven. Lawrence Richardson of Arkansas paces that category with 13 PBU. Burress may have to wait to add to his total, however, as he recovers from a concussion sustained in the Georgia game.
Wajda has 58 tackles this season, the fifth-best total among SEC defensive backs.
As a team, UK has 14 sacks this year, ranking fourth in the SEC in that department.
